Can't Open the VibeSonic DMG Installer on macOS 26.4 Beta? Here's Why.

If you're running the macOS 26.4 developer or public beta and can't open the VibeSonic installer, you're not alone — and it's not your fault. Apple has introduced a bug in this beta that stops certain installer files from opening. Here's what's going on and what you can do about it.

VibeSonic

If you've recently tried to install VibeSonic and run into an error like "no mountable file systems" — or the installer just refuses to open at all — you've likely hit a bug introduced in the macOS 26.4 beta.

This is not a problem with VibeSonic. The installer file itself is perfectly fine. The issue is with macOS 26.4 beta, which has broken a core part of the operating system responsible for opening installer files (.dmg files).

What's actually happening?

macOS uses a background process to verify and open certain types of installer packages. In macOS 26.4 beta (both the developer and public betas released in February 2026), Apple accidentally broke this process. As a result, many .dmg installers — including VibeSonic's — simply won't open, and macOS may show an error message or just do nothing at all.

This is a known issue reported widely across the Mac developer community, and Apple has already been notified. It's not specific to VibeSonic — any app distributed as a traditional .dmg installer is affected.

How do I fix it?

You have two options:

Option 1: Wait for Apple's fix. Apple will almost certainly patch this in an upcoming beta update. If you can hold off for a few days or a week, it's worth waiting for macOS to update automatically. Once the fix lands, the VibeSonic installer will work perfectly without any changes on your end.

Option 2: Roll back to macOS 26.3. If you need VibeSonic urgently, rolling back to macOS 26.3 will resolve the issue immediately. VibeSonic's installer works without any problems on 26.3 and all earlier macOS versions.

Still stuck?

We understand this is unusual — a macOS update breaking app installers isn't something that happens often. Here are a few places where other users and developers have been discussing the exact same issue, so you can see it's been widely reported:
